I believe that we, as humans, share more than the common cells and elements that form our bodies. There is something more; a connection that binds us together. We are all unique in our thoughts, beliefs, lifestyles and yet we all share so many common experiences. It is this concept, the shared human experience or connection that I would like to explore. Through this blog I hope to gain a better understanding of the nature and evolution of our humanity. To do this I need your help!

I am asking that you share your experiences with me. A story of a kind stranger, a life lesson, anything or anyone who has had an impact on your life. Also, I will be posting a series of "deep" life questions and I would love to hear what you all have to say. Please feel free to share as little or as much as you want. You can remain anonymous or share every detail, all I ask is that you be completely honest. No judgement here, I just hope to better understand and appreciate those with whom I share this planet.

So the question was posed to me a few weeks ago, in reference to my first blog. "Who am I agonizing for?" Why the rethinking and editing of every phrase that I "utter" into the Blogosphere? Is it for my own ego? An impossible childhood standard? Why do I care so much? Who's approval am I seeking?
After mulling over this last question, I am still not quite sure. There are surely those more experienced and intelligent than I whose approval would be important, but who are those people? And would they ever, in some random twist of fate, ever come across my tiny little corner of this great big blog world? Am I secretly dreaming of the Mensa board glued to their computers waiting anxiously for my next post? Maybe a little. Hey, a girl can dream right?

But in all reality, this really got me thinking about what it is that we all put out there, in cyberspace. This persona, with pictures and quotes to tell the world who we really are, (or want to be). With all this effort that goes into maintaining all of our online profiles and social networking sites, I have to wonder, "How close are our online profiles to who we are in the physical world?".

  1. I think it's impossible to define someone's personality through an online profile. I think sites like Facebook are useful for professional networking and keeping in touch with old friends, but as far as getting to know someone new just by reading their profile, I don't think anything can replace a real face-to-face conversation.
